Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration

 Encourage your child to Dig Into Reading this summer with the Lafayette Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Children (and adults and teens, too*) can win prizes for reading and enjoy a full lineup of free entertaining and educational activities. Register online at or at any of our branch libraries starting May 20.

Internationally known for her spicy style, Johnette Downing’s movin’ and groovin’ musical performances will start the kickoff with her concert ”Reading Rocks.” There will also be crafts, a fun jump, “Zoo Zoom” petting zoo and more. The Northside High Drill SQUAD will also perform their “Stepping” percussive dance routines! For details, call 981-1028.

Programs for all ages will be held at many of our branch libraries in
June and July. Check in May for updates. *Reading Programs for Teens and Adults also start May 20. This year’s Teen Reading Alliance theme is “Beneath the Surface.” For details, visit The Adult Summer Reading theme is “Groundbreaking Reads.” Adults and teens who register and log books online will have opportunities to win prizes in drawings throughout the summer.
